The membership information page offers an overview of the costs of different membership types.
No, you can join on your own, almost none of our events require a partner. That being said, we have a discord channel dedicated to finding a dancing partner. You can also find a dance partner organically during the lessons.
Blue Suede Shoes offers technique lessons, workshops and practices. General classes, where there is a bigger focus on steps and figures are offered by X and dance school Wesseling. See the classes and practices page for more information.
We organize free try-outs for both Ballroom and Argentine Tango at the start of the year where you can get to know the dances in a very relaxed and easy-going way. These will be listed on the events page. In addition, X organizes try-outs for the dancing courses every quarter. Check the X website for the schedule. Blue Suede Shoes members are usually present at these try-outs, so ask for a member for a nice conversation about dancing.
You don’t need dancing shoes to get started, and neither are they mandatory in any way. However, dancing shoes are specifically made for dancing, so it will make you and your dance look much nicer with accompanying shoes!
There are multiple dance shoe stores in cities around Delft. Dance school Wesseling sells shoes as well. You can also get a pair second hand to save yourself blisters and money. If you have difficult feet, ask members for advice 🙂
SoSalsa and D.S.D.A. Dynamic are sister dance-associations of Blue Suede Shoes. SoSalsa targets the latin (non-ballroom) partner dances: salsa, kizomba, merengue, bachata, and rueda. Dynamic is a solo-dance association, for lot’s of different styles. Blue Suede Shoes covers Ballroom and Argentine Tango partner dancing.
All dancing is great, and each association has it’s own style and character. Do some workshops and see what you like best. We will welcome you with open arms.
X requires all participants of events at X to have an X-card. The good news is that a Blue Suede Shoes membership includes an X-card, and that a membership is cheaper than an X-card itself. How does that work? This is a sponsor deal we have with X. To make use of it, you have to participate in at least 10 activities throughout the year.
As we have 3~5 activities a week, this is easy as pie 😀
